Clave Sol is a spicy fusion of jazz improvisation with Latin, funk, island, and world rhythms.|
The music of Clave Sol is lively, improvisational, and danceable. Clave Sol is jazz played to the rhythms of Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Bolero,
Tango, Cumbia, Merengue, Samba, Bossa Nova, Reggae, Calypso, and other world rhythms. For musical reference one can find traces of
Mongo Santamaria, Michel Camilo, Chick Corea, Joe Sample and the Jazz Crusaders, and Carlos Santana.
The group was started in 2000 by St. Louis pianist Philip Gomez, with the concept of providing music that would be exciting for the
audience as well as for the musicians. That translated into the combination of solid grooves of Latin, island, and world rhythms with
challenging musical motifs and improvisation.
